Paddy Turner

Paddy Turner (SFHEA; SAMNADP; Emeritus Fellow) worked at Sheffield Hallam University from 1998 to 2025 covering all aspects of disabled student support from direct student support to management and research. Now retired he continues to retain a passion for improving access to and inclusion within, the academic and cultural environment.
He was Head of Inclusive Practice (Disability) until 2011 before changing hats to become an Education Developer supporting academic and learning support staff towards Advance HE (HEA) Fellowship recognition and developing inclusive teaching and learning practice as part of a wider EEDI remit.
Paddy was on the Working Party that set up NADO, as it was originally known, in 1999 and became a Director of NADP in 2005 going on to serve two consecutive terms as Chair (2011-18). He remains passionate about the benefits NADP has to offer members and, by extension, the students and staff they work with and who form the NADP Community.
Now an Adviser to the Board having (at last – good grief!) stepped down as a Director in early 2026, Paddy is currently chairing the NADP Accreditation Scheme Standing Committee supporting our members towards receiving genuinely high status recognition of their highly skilled, dedicated and professional work in support of students.
