Daniel Parrott

Daniel is an experienced, multidisciplinary higher education manager, who has worked in the wider HE sector since 1996 and disability specific roles since 2004. He has combined skills in information technology, information management and teaching pedagogy to form a broad-based, practical oversight of the potential needs of people with disabilities in HE.

Since 2009, Daniel has been a DSA assessment manager. In this role, he has been privileged to listen to the educational experiences of students with a broad range of disabilities, medical conditions, mental health conditions, neurodiversities and combined impacts, recommending targeted, specialist support to assist them achieve their academic goals.

Daniel has a particular interest in supporting sector stakeholders make practical, common-sense policy adjustments in order to take into account the real-life of experiences of students with disabilities and other diversities. He is passionate that options for disabled students in higher education are continually improved and expanded, and that as the sector landscape evolves, gains made are not lost.

As a Wales based practitioner, Daniel has built a strong advisory reputation with devolved policy makers and stakeholders. He currently co-chairs the South Wales DSA forum, which brings together policy makers, providers and practitioners to discuss and problem solve pressing sector concerns.

Daniel originally graduated in Music at Cardiff University and can still regularly be seen playing Bassoon in orchestras in the Bristol and South Wales area. He has a strong interest in languages (including French, Italian, Norwegian and Icelandic) and this assists him look outside of the UK for comparative and benchmarking purposes.
