The NADP Professional Standards Framework

The NADP Professional Standards Framework encompasses all aspects that make up the process by which Disability Practitioners (DPs) can demonstrate that they meet the required standards for NADP Individual Accreditation, as Accredited or Senior Accredited Member. This includes:

• the core dimensions and elements of the DPs role and practice
• a set of criteria against which DPs can be measured to ascertain they meet the required standards
• the means by which DPs can provide appropriate evidence to enable measurement against the criteria
• appropriate quality systems to enable fair and equitable reviewing and decision-making
• a variety of information and guidance to support those applying for accreditation

The Accreditation Process

1. Registration – complete a registration form on the NADP website. When registering for a cohort, we ask you to provide your CPD log, employment history and job description. Registration is completed in advance of the submission date and secures your place in the cohort.
2. Check-ins – in the weeks leading up to your submission date you will receive check-in emails from the NADP office. A link to upload your full submission will be provided at this time.
3. Submission – your full accreditation submission is due in either March or July, depending on your registration choice. Your exact submission deadline will have been confirmed on the NADP website and in the check-in emails. If you’re unsure you can always contact the NADP office.
4. Review Panel – your work will be shared with a panel who will meet to review your submission.
5. Outcomes – the chair of your review panel will be in touch by email to let you know the outcome of your submission in either May or September depending on your submission date. There are three possible outcomes:
   • ‘Awarded’ – Congratulations! You have met all the requirements and your accreditation is confirmed.
   • ‘Award Pending’ – This means that there are only a few minor edits or amendments to make to your submission. The panel chair will describe in their email what these actions are (and offer to have an online chat with you, if you require this).
   • ‘Not Yet Awarded’ – This means that there is still a little more work required. The panel chair will detail exactly what additional work is required in their email, and offer you the chance to meet online to discuss this and agree a time period for resubmission.

Inclusive Assessment

The National Association of Disability Practitioners (NADP) is committed to inclusive practice. To ensure our accreditation process is accessible to all, we now offer Multiple Modes of Assessment (MMA) for various elements of the Accredited Member (AM) and Senior Accredited Member (SAM) schemes.

While some elements must remain in a written format, in order to demonstrate a competence standard (for example the ability to produce accurate academic references), many of your reflective pieces can now be submitted via video or signed recordings. We will also offer the option of a dialogic approach to resubmission.

Important Guidance for Your Submission

If you choose to use an alternative mode of assessment, please keep the following practical tips in mind:

• Flexibility with Limits: The word counts and time limits are designed to give you enough space to provide the necessary evidence. We apply a degree of flexibility to these limits within reason.
• Platform Recommendations: We recommend using Microsoft Teams for video submissions because of the accessibility features such as captions and transcripts.
• Transcripts and Captions: For video submissions, it is highly beneficial to activate captions or provide a transcript. This assists our reviewers in identifying where you have evidenced specific elements of practice.
• Mapping Your Evidence: You must clearly show where you are evidencing the dimensions of practice. If you are recording a video, you might find it helpful to share slides on your screen to display your references and mapping. Or there is a reference mapping form (add link to form) which can be used and submitted with your recording
• Resubmission Options: For many alternative formats, we offer a dialogic resubmission if preferred, allowing for a professional conversation to clarify or build upon your initial evidence.
• Open Options: We are always open to considering other requests for alternative assessment modes on their own merits. Please contact us if you would like to discuss this.

Submission date for March Submission 2026: Monday 16th March
Outcomes announced: Early May
Submission date for July Submission 2026: Monday 13th July
Outcomes announced: Early September

If you are planning to work for accreditation in the next couple of years, please look through the materials and start drafting now. The assessment will not change and it will ensure that you can complete accreditation in the time.
