Elizabeth Back
Elizabeth joined NADP’s Board of Directors in 2026.
She has worked in higher education since 2013 and began her career working within disability support in higher education in Disability Services at the University of Bristol in 2017. During that time, she has been a student facing disability adviser, senior disability adviser and team leader and Disability Services Manager. Bristol’s Disability Services are a service for disabled students, and for staff working with disabled students, providing advice, information and guidance and recommending reasonable adjustments to teaching and assessment to ensure equity for disabled students.
As Disability Services Manager, she was responsible for overhauling Disability Services processes, including introducing disability self-declaration, reduced or removed requirements for supporting documents, streamlining and reducing the waiting times for accessing a Study Support Plan and establishing pathways for academic staff to implement rapid locally agreed adjustments.
Providing training and development and working with others to build confidence and change cultures is something she is passionate about. She currently works in staff development as a disability awareness trainer at the University of Bristol. Working in partnership with staff and students to understand what students want staff to understand about studying with disabilities and providing targeted training and learning opportunities. She is committed to improving the experiences of disabled students.
Elizabeth has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Southampton and Masters with Distinction from the University of Bristol in Reception and Critical Theory.
