As a Wellbeing Adviser (Counselling) reporting to the Wellbeing & Counselling Manager you will work proactively and reactively, supporting and counselling individual students and advising staff as well as delivering group-work and training for students and staff. You will be an organised, committed and energetic individual with an interest in developing and providing excellent services to our diverse student body.
You have the skills and experience to engage and work constructively with students with ongoing or emerging mental health conditions, in sometimes complex or challenging circumstances. You will be able to use case management skills and work with a range of different stakeholders to help achieve positive outcomes for students, taking into account funding and regulatory frameworks as well as wellbeing requirements.
Ideally you will have some experience of working with hard-to-reach client groups or marginalised groups. You must have the knowledge, skills and empathy to provide services to our diverse student body, and an understanding of and commitment to the social model of disability.
You will be excited by the opportunity to work with the team to develop innovative evidence-based and efficient services, taking the lead on particular small projects. You will draw on your up-to-date knowledge and expertise in confidently contributing your ideas to team planning.
Please note that it is a condition of this post that you take part in student services work that may include weekend and evening working and beyond core hours, and supporting the askUS opening hours of 8am-8pm.This post is term time only and the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.
