An exciting opportunity has arisen within Student Services for an enthusiastic and motivated Mental Health
Advisor. The post holder will be a member of the Disability Service team, based in Student Services.
You will be expected to establish and develop new links with a wide range of external agencies (e.g. Mental
Health Services, Crisis Intervention Teams) in order to facilitate collaborative working. You will provide one
to one casework with students, liaison with academic and other support staff to provide specialist information,
advice and guidance. You will respond to risk concerns identified in assessments or raised by others and
contribute to the development of early intervention initiatives at the University.
The successful candidate will have a degree with a relevant qualification in the field of Nursing or Social Work
and substantial training and professional experience of working with people with a range of mental health
needs. You will have effective communication skills and be able to maintain confidential, helpful and
cooperative manner when working under pressure. You should be committed to working with a diverse
student body and be able to show sensitivity to individual difference. In order to meet the needs of the
University and Student Services, a flexible approach to working is an essential requirement of this role and
the ability to work across teams as required.
