We are excited to announce that the NADP Board, with input from a number of Heads of Service, have spent some time generating what we hope will prove to be a set of Disability Practitioner Professional Standards that will add considerably to the professional standing and status of us all. The longer term aim is that these standards, and the framework that contains them, will act as the measurement tool against which our members will be able to demonstrate recognition of their practice experience and become accredited members of NADP. This is where we have reached in re-imagining our accreditation scheme and work is ongoing towards this end.

The NADP Standards Framework is modelled on the same framework that some of you will know as the UKPSF (Professional Standards Framework) created by the Higher Education Academy (as was – now Advance HE). This is used to demonstrate professional recognition for academics who teach in higher education and is very well established with over 100,000 accredited fellows. Naturally, the NADP framework is a practitioner framework and not an academic one, so it has a similar structure but very different standards.

Before we launch it across the sector we want your views. The framework needs to be understood by you and reflect your practice, we’ve tried to take account of everyone but we want to hear from you in order to be sure.

So we are holding 3 regional roadshows in May:

17th May 10.00 – 13.00 in London (London South Bank University – LSBU)

30th May 12.30 – 15.30 in Darlington (Teesside University)

31st May 10.30 – 13.30 in Leicester (De Montfort University – DMU)

Full details of room location and travel information will be released to all attendees.

A further opportunity to contribute, will take place at our Anniversary Conference in June but this will be open to delegates only.

These events will be free, but in order to do this we will not be providing any refreshments or lunches, I’m afraid – please bring with you anything you wish to eat or drink, or use the numerous facilities at or around the venues.

The sessions will introduce the Professional Standards Framework, provide opportunities for discussion and feedback and also describe an outline plan and timeline for the ongoing development of the new Accreditation Scheme itself.

(Please note: all those who have previously been accredited under our original scheme, will retain their accreditation status and we will be talking to all of them for their advice and support as we continue the development and begin the rollout of the new scheme.)

All members and associates are welcome.

Numbers are necessarily strictly limited, so please complete our booking form as soon as possible.
