Jo has over 20 years’ experience in supporting disabled students in higher education and she is an advocate for social model disability theory and the application of this within practice.
She has held several employment roles within higher education which have included the posts of Student Education and Welfare Sabbatical Officer at Anglia Ruskin University and Disability Adviser and DSA Needs Assessor. She is currently a Study Skills and Strategy Tutor at a Teesside University. She has also undertaken work as an English Tutor supporting adults in a local authority setting and has held a Governor role, on a voluntary basis, at two Sixth Form colleges.
She has achieved several qualifications which include a PCGE qualification, MA Education degree, Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Learners with Specific Learning Difficulties (dyslexia) as well as a Certificate in Supporting Disabled Students in Higher Education. She is also currently enrolled onto an MBA course.
She is very enthusiastic and committed to supporting the Directorate team in delivering the organisation’s mission to promote excellence in quality, sustainability and inclusivity of the post 16 provision for disabled students and staff in higher and further education.
