Jonathan Thompson

I have been working as a Disability Practitioner for approximately 30 years, 20 of those within Higher Education. My roles have included Disability Project Worker (Curriculum Review) on a HEFCE funded project ‘Enhancing the Course Offer’ for University of the Arts London, Learning Support Manager for the University for the Creative Arts and currently the Disability & Dyslexia Services Manager at London South Bank University since 2016. Other roles have included teaching in HE, FE, Adult Education, Social Services and consultancy in regard adult education courses for people with a Learning Disability for Portsmouth City Council.

I studied BA Hons & MA in Fine Art Painting & Printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts London, and initially used my skills to teach adults with learning difficulties & disabilities for social services and then progressed to roles within Further and Higher Education. I’ve studied for a PGCE in the post compulsory sector with an emphasis on inclusion for learners with a disability and also hold a Certificate in Management from the Institute for Leadership and Management.

I have served on the NADP Board of Directors for 3 years with a particular responsibility as Chair for the CPD sub-committee and now Vice Chair for Professional Development.

I am particularly keen to continue to help steer and guide the development of NADP’s CPD offer to members, through training events, conferences, and accreditation and more recently through webinars. The expertise that exists within the membership is enormous and it is a privilege to help harness this as well as facilitate relevant and timely professional development to those members throughout the year.

Outside of these commitments I am a practicing artist with a specialism in Intaglio Printmaking and have exhibited in London and in my local area of Hampshire.
