I have been working as a Disability Practitioner for approximately 27 years, 17 of those within Higher Education. My roles have included Disability Project Worker (Curriculum Review) on a HEFCE funded project ‘Enhancing the Course Offer’ for University of the Arts London, Learning Support Manager for the University for the Creative Arts and more recently Disability Manager at London South Bank University. Other roles have included teaching in HE, FE, Adult Education, Social Services and consultancy in regard adult education courses for people with a Learning Disability for Portsmouth City Council.
I studied BA Hons & MA in Fine Art Painting & Printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts and initially used my skills to teach adults with learning difficulties & disabilities for social services and then progressed to roles within Further and Higher Education. I’ve studied for a PGCE in the post compulsory sector with an emphasis on inclusion for learners with a Disability and also hold a Certificate in Management from the Institute for Leadership and Management.
I am particularly interested in promoting Inclusivity within the sector and collaborating with colleagues to share good practice in times of change. I believe I have considerable amount of experience to offer NADP as well as good organisational skills to help with events and initiatives to support colleagues in the sector. I have experience of organising, hosting and delivering workshops and presentations at regional and national conferences.
